Do you feel tired, worn down or unappreciated?

If you do it is most likely because you are not making it a point to focus on yourself. If you are anything like me you tend to be so busy making sure the world around you is running seamlessly. Not wanting anyone to feel forgotten or left behind but in the midst of making sure everyone else is taken care of you have lost sight of the very most important person in your life. Yourself.

You may say I am not that important. But that’s where you are wrong, take a second and think about your life.

If you were not here who would take care of everyone that you take care of on a daily basis?

I have to ask myself this question regularly just to remind myself that I am important. If I was not here, if I were to die tomorrow what would life look like for my family, my employer, my friends? It would look very different.

I am a mother of three ages 7, 8 and 9 without me they would not know the unconditional love of a mother. I have an amazing husband who is very capable but without me he would not be reminded of his worth, each day and he would lose sight of his importance. I am an employee to a City that could manage without me, but all who I serve on a daily basis, would be lost and have no hope of change in the future. I am a best friend to an amazing group of women that could live life without me, but they would lose their shoulder to cry on, the understanding yet firm advice of a non-judgmental friend, who has their best interest at heart and wants to see them thrive in their life. I am important to each and every person that my life enhances every day, but if I don’t honor myself and value my importance my body will become battered and worn from abuse and I will pass away.

“You are so important, you deserve to be honored and honor yourself.”

You are just as important as myself and all those around you. You are so important, you deserve to be honored and honor yourself. In fact you are so important you must treat yourself like the beloved gift to this world that God created in you, so that you can shine your light bright and impact thousands. If you do not take the time to honor yourself, whether it is 15 minutes in the morning to sip on your coffee or tea and take some deep cleansing breaths before starting your day or sitting outside sipping on a glass of wine and breathing in natures perfumes at night and letting the days stresses release from your body you are doing the world a disservice.

“If you don’t honor and restore yourself no one else will honor and restore you.”

We get so wrapped up that we let our bodies go, we mistreat them and we abuse them just so we can cater to everyone else. But you my beloved you are the most important person because if you don’t honor and restore yourself no one else will honor and restore you. You teach others how to treat you not by words but by actions. What have you done for yourself today, yesterday or last week. Make it a daily routine to somehow honor yourself so that your cup can be filled and you can teach others how to make themselves their most important person as well.

So the question is why is focusing on yourself so important. The answer is because this world needs you and if you don’t focus on yourself, love and honor yourself, you won’t be around to shine your light. This world will eventually lose the light that you bring it, whether you see it or not you change lives even in the simplest ways. A simple smile as you pass a stranger on the street or a good morning to the mother that feels invisible. By tipping the waitress who is struggling to pay her bills or by kissing your babies as they go to sleep and reminding them that they are loved.

It has taken me many years and many more health issues before I was able to start listening to my body and learning how to show myself some love. I love to use essential oils in the morning as I meditate and release any fears I have about the day. I keep a crystal or two with me throughout the day to help me stay grounded and present in each moment. I limit the time I spend on social media and in front of a screen or phone. I also balance my chakras each day so that my energy can freely flow and I can stay positive about life even when it is wearing on every nerve in my body.
